In addition to fishing charters, golfing, tennis, excellent cuisine, and many local niche activities to participate in while staying at a Hilton Head vacation rental, there are plenty of other activities that you should be aware of. Hilton Head is a hive of activity that includes museums, an excellent symphony, wine festivals, and more. Don't be shy a bout taking advantage of these great local activities while you're vacationing there. Give the beach and sun a rest and take a walk into town to see what's going on.
Each March there is a wine festival in Hilton Head that showcases hundreds of wines from the United States and Europe. This has been going on for more than 20 years, and is a part of the local community since it was organized before Hilton Head became the popular vacation area that it is today. In other words, it's not a tourist trap that was organized to take your money; this is the real deal. You can taste wine, eat food, and even stock your win rack up for the rest of your vacation. It's a great time.
If you take a walk into town you may be able to catch the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra at First Presbyterian Church. This i
s a group that has been around for more than 20 years, and performs over the winter with their season ending in May. They have a phenomenal holiday concert if you have the pleasure of vacationing in Hilton Head over Christmas.
Along the same musical lines, there is a Hilton Head Choral Society that is staffed from the community and typically performs four programs per year. It's a real treat that can also be enjoyed over the holidays or in the Hilton Head off season.
For those into information such as ecology and geology, the Coastal Discovery Museum has classes and tours for both children and adults. Taking one of their guided tour cruises around the island is a great way to spend a low impact afternoon and you'll learn something in the process.
Finally, the Arts Center of Costal Carolina offers many theater productions that can be a great pairing with a nice dinner at one of the excellent local restaurants (seafood, of course). They provide everything from musical presentations to plays and art exhibits and can be a very nice interlude at any time of year. Make sure you at least are aware of what's going on there. You never know when something might pique your interest while staying at your Hilton Head vacation rental.
