Holidays in San Antonio are a bit like marmite… you either love them or hate them. If you choose to stay in San antonio for your holiday in Ibiza you have to accept what you’re getting yourself in for. While there are undoubtedly nice hotels in San An. Most of the budget places are pretty run down and San Antonio, being the reserve of the lads and lasses holidays can be a rowdy place. Now its not nearly as bad on the rowdy drunkenness front as its european counterparts in other destinations like Aiya Napa, Kavos or Playa De Las Americas in Tenerife but if you’re staying in or around the West End you have to be prepared to see this side of San Antonio at night.

Now San Antonio is definitely a fun place and a great choice if its your first time in Ibiza because everything is very much ready made for tourists. You’re in easy reach of all the bars and clubs you could ever want and if you’re still left wanting more you can always jump in a cab to the out of town clubs like Privilege or Amnesia.
Family holidays in San Antonio?

Although there are hotels which cater for families in the centre of San Antonio if you’re travelling with kids you’d probably be best advise to head to the neighbouring San Antonio Bay area instead. This is much quieter than downtown San Antonio and the beach is far more kid friendly.

If you’re in t
he market for a budget Ibiza holiday you’ll be glad to know that San Antonio has the largest range of cheap hotel rooms on the island. You can often pick up bargain rooms for around €15/ night smack bang in the centre of town. Perfect if you’re the sort of holidaymaker who doesn’t tend to spend much time in their hotel and just needs a base to dump off your bags at the start of your holiday and crawl back to after a long night of partying in Ibiza!
Book San Antonio early

Be advised that during Ibiza’s busiest season (which is mostly between July and September with August the busiest overall) you’ll need to either book well in advance if you want to get a decent San An hotel room or else be prepared to be flexible when it comes to quality and board basis. You can always get last minute rooms (and can often get a good deal that way) but you can’t pick and choose accommodation when you do it this way.
The sunset strip

One of the best things about holidaying in San Antonio is the string of bars along the so called ‘sunset strip’ where you’ll find famous names like Cafe Mambo and Cafe Del Mar. This area is regarded as the best place in Ibiza to watch the sunset (something of an Ibizian tradition) so at least one night during your stay in San Antonio head down to the strip around 8pm and either set up camp in one of the bars or just take a bottle of wine, chill on the beach and soak up that authentic, if a little cliched, Ibiza atmosphere.
