In the Czech Republic you will find there are many cities and towns which are worth visiting. Of these multitudes you will find the spa city of Karlovy Vary to be a fantastic holiday choice. This city which in English is known as Carlsbad is situated at the junction of the Ohře River and Teplá Rivers meet. Karlovy Vary can be found in the Western Bohemia area of the Czech Republic. This fabulous city was founded in 1370 by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV. It has been named after the King of Bohemia and Emperor Charles IV.
Karlovy Vary is historically famous for its numerous hot springs. There are about 13 main hot springs to be found with 300 smaller springs as well. In addition to this you will find the River Teplá has waters which are quite pleasantly warm. While Karlovy Vary is quite famous for its spa treatments you will find there are other reasons for this city’s fame. These will include the famous plums delicacy which is known as the “Carlsbad plums” the plums which are usually of the Quetsch variety are candied in hot syrup. They are then halved and stuffed into dried damsons. This process gives the plums a very intense and delicious flavor.
