Throughout the year, there are many markets that appear across the city of Prague in the Czech Republic; however, one of the most anticipated markets in the city are the Prague Christmas markets that are held during the holiday season. The Prague Christmas markets are usually set up near the city centre at Wenceslas Square and the Old Town Square; the city’s two permanent main markets that are located in Przska Trznice and the Havelske Trzis also participate in the event.

Christmas market-goers may browse and purchase a wide variety of products including traditional Prague products as well as Christmas themed wares. The Prague Christmas markets near the city centre open at 9 am in the morning and close at 7 pm in the evening. Many of the shops that are set up at the Christmas markets are elaborately decorated huts that sell freshly made foodstuffs, traditional handicrafts, decorations and a wide variety of drinks. Many shops also sell toys and candies that can be used as fillers for Christmas stockings; some shops also sell different kinds of toys, jewellery, Christmas ornaments, Christmas decorations, Christmas trees, carol books, crib statues and Christmas puppets.

There are many hotels located in the vicinity of the Christmas markets. However, since many tourists flock to the city during the month of December, it is always a good idea to book hotel accommodations early.

There are a number of excellent Xmas markets in Europe if you are also interested in other options for seasonal shopping that London Camden Town market, Brussels Christmas market and Cologne Xmas market in Germany. Cologne market is one of the best in Europe and the mix of German food, a chance to drink some traditional local beers and to do some festive shopping make Cologne (Koln in German) a favourite for many tourists.

Bath near to Bristol is one of the best festive markets in the UK and a hot tipple of cider with spices is a traditional drink for the hot weather often on sale here, if you are interested to buy some very British gifts. Many people from around the UK visit Bath specifically for the festive market and atmosphere and the town in its own right is worth visiting for its Roman baths and local history.

Overall there are some excellent options for Christmas shopping and whether or not you prefer Prague, Cologne, Brussels or Bath, all are very choices and offer their own unique shopping opportunities.
